Lorna Tsutsumi
Lorna Tsutsumi, a professor of entomology, is the recipient of the Pulama Ike Award, which honors an individual who has made significant contributions to developing and promoting the mission and spirit of the university.
Tsutsumi has the special ability to combine and blend all aspects of teaching, research and service, which is a true benefit to her students as well as the UH Hilo, local and global communities.
She has collaborated with students to develop a number of value added honey and beeswax products, many of which are now being sold under the UH trade name Kulanui.
Frequently published in journals and extension publications and featured at public presentations, Tsutsumi is an invaluable university and community resource in the areas of pest control and monitoring.
