Cantonese Opera

August 25, 2:00pm - 6:00pm
Mānoa Campus, Orvis Auditorium

Great melodies through the playing of instrumental ensembles, forceful sounds of the gongs and cymbals, angelic duet tunes, and elegant dance moves and performances in elaborate costuming await you in recognition of a long history traditional of Cantonese Opera in Hawai`i.

The musicians, dancers/actors and singers of the Wo Lok Music Club, who have not presented a full concert since 1998, wish to celebrate their recent Cantonese Opera Apprenticeships from the Hawai`i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts.

The Cantonese Opera performance is a production of the Wo Lok Music Club. The production is supported by the Hawai`i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, the National Organization for Traditional Artists Exchange and the University of Hawai`i at Mānoa Outreach College.
