KAHULUI, Hawai'i—The UH Maui College Veterans Club will hold a grand opening ceremony for the newly established Veterans Resource Center at Maui College on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 10 a.m. The Veterans Resource Center is the first center dedicated to veterans in the UH school system. The public is invited to attend.
Expected attendees of the grand opening include Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02), Mayor Alan Arakawa, UH Maui College Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs John McKee, members of the UHMC Veterans Club, the H.P. Baldwin H.S. Army JROTC, and the UHMC faculty, students and staff. Kimokeo Kapahulehua (Hui O Wa'a Kaulua) will give the blessing.
With the help of the Schwab Charitable Fund and a grant from The Home Depot Foundation, student veterans now have a workable and comfortable location to study, receive tutoring, counseling, and simply relax. The Veterans Resource Center can be found at the Annex building on the East side of campus near the Health Center.
"We are excited to finally have a center dedicated to the education and future endeavors of the men and women who bravely served their country as Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines," said Cody Snyder, President of the UH Maui Military Veterans Club. "Veterans can come together and work as a collective to support each person's overall success in education and work study."
