During the 2014-2015 academic year, the John Young Museum of Art has been very busy! Here are some of the projects we have been working on:

  • Received the Conservation Assessment Program grant for two assessors to examine and make recommendations for the museum’s courtyard and art collection of the Museum (Landscape Assessor: Angela Thompson, Architect of Mason Architects and Collection Assessor: Tonja Moris, Conservator of the Walt Disney Family Museum).
  • Participated in the Re / Charting exhibition at the University of Hawaii at Mānoa Gallery.
  • Hosted Preservation Workshop: Artworks on Paper led by Asian Paper Conservator Hiroko Sakaurai (Sponsored by the Student Activities and Program Fee Board).
  • Photographed high-resolution images of over 300 artworks. Some examples here.
  • Don’t forget to check out our new website!
  • The Museum continues to advance its ability to preserve and present the artworks in its collection.  We could not have achieved these things without the help of many student volunteers from the Department of Art & Art History and Museum Studies.
